The animals...

As I have previously mentioned on this reputable blog, Kodak is our much beloved cat. Obviously, she has also had the recent trauma of moving house and dealing with change.
We are having a few teething problems with the settling in and with her adjusting to life sharing a house with a small dog. Sassy, the resident Jack Russell is also in two minds about whether sharing her house with a snobby ass cat is really her idea of a good time. I think these two images best reflect both of their current attitudes. Resigned ambivalence from Sass and Kodak sleeping obliviously, waving her hands in the air like she just don't care. As much as the two of them aren't exactly over the moon, it's a workable situation and I am exceedingly delighted to have the chance to spend time with the very aptly named Sassy - being a deprived dog lover for a long time I feel it is only my due - and I couldn't ask for a cooler dog.

This morning I opened my email account to find an email from my old High Shool Principal asking people to register interest in a High School Reunion. This is to be done through the Friends Reunited website.
I immediately responded - I'm not sure that when it comes to the crunch I will actually attend, but I have a serious fondness for this particular principal and he was quite an influence on me in those years , so if nothing else I wanted to support him.

School reunions. What's the go with that? Anyone that you would want to keep in touch with I assume you would have? I know that I did. There are a couple of folks that I lost track of that I would be keen to see again , but it's certainly not a problem that keeps me awake at night.

Anyhoo, with this ambivalence in mind , I checked the register again this afternoon to see if there had been any additons since this morning. One of the more notable registrations was from a young man who has recently come out as a cross dresser. This was described in frank detail on his profile. This is very exciting for me . Other than the typical gay mates that dress in drag for the occassional costume party, I have never met a real , straight cross dresser. So all of a sudden this reunion has gained a lot more appeal.
I wonder what else could possibly be exposed...

Party

I had a Birthday Party on Saturday night hosted by Team Donehue-Shortus. It was fab glam. My friends all got together to provide awesome food and beverages. We had some sushi, some curry and scrumptious nibbly bits of all shapes and sizes. Tasty and lethal punch, litres of champers, a sinfully rich birthday cake, a huge home made HAPPY BIRTHDAY L-M banner, dancing, singing and random acts of boob flashing. What more could I possibly have desired!

Back to reality now - I have certainly had my fair share of me focus. Special L-M time has officially ceased and I had better get used to it.
Hum Drum here I come...

Get out!! Fergal has updated his new blog!
Check his rhymes at http://fergalfleming.blogspot.com/

The Darwin blogging community is growing...we are coming.....

Some nice stuff that has happened to me in the last week(ish)

I had a rotten rotten week last week. My outrageously awesome niece had her first birthday party on Saturday the 4th of Feb. It was a morning party and was over by midday. (check her equally awesome mama's blog for details http://klickinwonderland.blogspot.com/)

From the midday cessation of the party, my week swiftly devolved into exhaustive nightmare proportions and I'd rather not talk about it thankyouverymuch...but you get the picture.

However, I have found to my pleasure that the freaky hellish existence I had tripped into, did indeed come to an end and quite a few luvverley things have happened since.
And so I present , in no particular order ;

Some Nice Stuff That Has Happened to Me in the Last Week(ish)
1
It was my birthday and I received an endless stream of phone calls, emails and text messages all expressing fond wishes and touching sentiments. This made me feel not only vastly popular and cool, but profoundly humble, extremely fortunate and exceedingly grateful for the fact that I am so surrounded by love. Y'all know who you are, and I thank you mob all from the bottom of my heart for making me feel so special.
2
My niece was so happy to see me yesterday that she cried when I had to leave. Bad for her, good for me.
3
My immediate supervisor went away on leave for two days this week - at a really busy time for us - and I have gotten to the end of said two days having successfully averted any major crisis - thus making me look shit hot efficient.
4
My supreme organisational skills enabled Kym and I to travel to Brisbane and peruse , select and purchase not only her wedding gown but both of the bridesmaid dresses by LUNCHTIME on the SECOND day! Allowing us to spend the rest of the afternoon and the following day at the pub! (okay... so possibly not only my organisatonal skills ... but it doesn't change the fact that Kym and I rock the shopping thang!!)
5
My friend Aaron came over last night and he stayed silent without complaint while I watched Lost (those of you who know Aaron will be undoubtedly sharing the awe with me. His staying silent at any time is not only rare - but I believe possibly a never before witnessed occurrence) After my viewing pleasure was completed, we had really fun conversation, pop-psycho analysing each other. Nothing much tops being allowed to talk about yourself with impugnity.
6
When I was in Brisbane I visited with my friend Sam and his hotty hot girlfriend Simone. I predicted a plot turn in Lost that last night was proven to be CORRECT and now Sam has to suck eggs cos he doubted me. In turn, hanging out with and old friend (Sam) his hotty hot girlfriend (Simone) and equally cute son (Madison) in itself was a very nice thing to happen to me. There was also beer and ice cream.
7
My boyfriend sent me an email explaining how much he loves me , with no incitement whatsoever.
8
I saw an old friend's new baby and I could actually exclaim how cute it was and I had the joy and ease of knowing that I was telling the truth. It was indeed a very cute baby.
9
When going over to my mate Megsy's place for drinks I discovered to my surprise that New Zealand oysters (which are the only oysters available to me at the moment) are almost as delicious as our usual South Australian Coffin Bay Oysters
(these being unavailable at the moment because it is spawning season)
As an addendum point 9, I would like say that the evening itself - the wine, beachfront patio, delicious oysters and Megsy's company was indeed also one of the nice things that has happened to me this week..

10
The beautiful family Shortus-Donehue have volunteered the use of their home and hospitality so that I may host a little drinksy, backyard disco dancing soiree to celebrate my bitrhday on Saturday night. They are always soooo good to me. I can't wait to pump a bit of "Hung Up" and show off my new moves.

This list is at risk of becoming very cumbersome so I am going to have to cut it here. There are so many other nice things that have happened but I don't want to risk sounding too happy clappy. (and boring the bejesus out my small readership)
Life for me really is very ace.

The Bright Lights of BrisVegas

I am off to Brisbane fools!!
Just for the weekend, cos that's how I roll.

I am going wedding dress shopping with my old mate ( and bride to be) Kym. She is shouting my trip as I am bridesmaid and moral support.
So a weekend of shopping, followed closely by visiting some big city restaurants and bars. After the week I have had I am ready for a serious bevvie.

Photos of inappropriate wedding dresses and drunken Darwin girls in the big smoke , to follow....

I like to move it, move it..

Well, time is trickling by and we are already in February - my personal favourite month, as most will be aware. ( for those that aren't aware , it's my birthday on the 14th beeyatchs!!) Nothing much is happening - still adjusting to being back at work and coping with routine kicking in. The biggest news to report is that we are due to depart ole Casa Sergi this weekend. As per my previous post, Anne has returned and our time for looking after her little dwelling has expired, so we are off to other pastures.
Househunting SUCKS - especially when limited by finances and the possession of a feline companion. Fortunately for us , after only a week of depressing real estate agent interaction, our old mate Mikey came to the fore and offered us a room in his newly purchased rancheroo in Jingili.
Now , just to keep you up to speed with all things cool in the burbs of Darwin - Jingili is the new Rapid Creek. Nightcliff held the crown for many years , to be usurped by Rapid Creek in about 2001ish. Due to rising prices, the gentrification of the local pub and the influx of herbal yuppies, I have decided that Jingili has now taken the honour of being the most ace suburb in which to reside. It's still close to the beach, Rapid Creek and all of my mates that live within. It has the BEST pizza shop in Darwin, the Water Gardens and close access to Route 10 bus stops. Also , I now live there - which obviously give it all the creedence it needs.
So after the beautiful Matilda's FIRST Birthday Party on Saturday morning (details of which are forthcoming) the moving of the accumulated crap begins.

Any housewarming presents or bodies built for heavy lifting gratefully accepted.

See you in Jingili asshats!
