HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING!

Today is Paul's Birthday - he is turning the ripe old age of 34.
He has given himself a 70s porn star handlebar moustache as a birthday gift - I won't post a picture of it here because it is so hideous and I would rather protect the aesthetic integrity of this blog - needless to say the only reason he is allowed to keep it is because it's his birthday - and as soon as possible afterward I am insisting on it's removal.
Anyhoo, we are out to dinner at a swanky restaurant tonight with sister Tash and her new friend to celebrate.
So if you see him today - remember to say happy day and don't be too enthusiastic about the present to himself - I don't want the slightest encouragement that may make him believe he should keep it.

I love you darling and Happy Birthday

Kate in Kenya

This is Kate. She lives in Kenya. You might know her from comments on my blog. She works for a compony that offers safaris. She is nice.

This is a tent that is used by Kate in Kenya. If we had a kick ass tent like that one I could possibly develop an interest in camping again....possibly. Its got a freaking bed in it!!

This is the view from said tent. Speaks for itself really. wow.

This is an elephant and some balloons. Man that would make an awesome kids book.

After receiving these pics in an email today - I now really really want to go to Africa. Or at least somewhere vast and somewhat dry.
I hope you enjoyed as much as I did the viewing pleasure of Kate in Kenya.

Spa Night

Last night was spa night.

The girls from work joined me in the spa for a few pay day drinks. Sadly Destini is soon to leave and won't be working with us any more. Strangely this now makes Tash my boss. Creepy.

Anyhoo, we celebrated one of our last pay days melaxing together in the spa after work. Don't my girls look pretty, rapt with attention, listening to one of my surely hilarious, yet still poingnant and insightful anecdotes. WE laughed and laughed. I think I laughed so much I might have even peed a little bit on myself.

Ahhh, Good Times.

Hello? Is anybody out there?

So according to the lovely Kate, in the comments of a previous post - the most amount of comments I have ever received for a single post was the one about my teeth!
Should I read this as an indication of what I should perhaps be blogging about?
I have been suffering a bit of an identity crisis regarding this blog lately. I am a big blog reader and most of these are of a thematic nature - concentrating on issues such as politics, pop culture, artistic endeavors...etcetera, etcetera. Sometimes mine seems to me to be a perpetual mantra of ..'saw so and so.. got pissed'...'saw so and so ...got pissed'....
Is this enough? Is this enough to sustain a blog? What is my blog's identity? Is it simply a forum for updating all of my absent loved ones in place of a group email or god forbid a letter or phone call? Can I justify my little place here on the world wide web?

I suppose that is reason enough and I can justify my place here on the world wide web - being that it is an infinite entity and hosts such lame ass crackers as....well I am too polite to name names but you have all been to those sites at some point.

Paul's birthday is on Monday which will entail excessive revelry and the festive season is fast approaching so I will have much fodder for my anecdotal and photographic posts of choice... "saw so and so .. got pissed...it rocked..." See you then, but just keep in mind there will be no more stories about my dental hygiene.

What a way..

Sydney Sam rang me this morning at 7.45am. I was at my desk, having my first sip of very strong coffee. He was in his car, sitting amongst dense Sydney Traffic, rocking out to the great Bon Jovi.
There is nothing like a Living On A Prayer serenade to start your day.

here we are now...entertain us....

Wowsers, time sure is flying. Here we are, nearly at the end of the year already and what have I got to show for it? I don't know , but it seems everyone else around here has wised up to something and people are shipping outta this town like rats from a sinking ship. Tracey and Matt have announced the DATE of their departure, making it all too real for me and reminding me of the other impending evacuees Kym and Brett. What am I going to do!? Those who aren't leaving for good are heading out for the end of year exodus to cooler climes, and this year Paul and I are stuck here due to unsuccessful and some might say reckless financial planning throughout 2006.

Please forgive my melancholy. I am in the pre-Festive season slump. October is a sucky month - There is not alot going on other than Pauls birthday right at the end and it seems like a million light years away until the end of year holiday period - the light at the end of this hum drum stuck in a rut boring as batshit tunnel. Party season doesn't start until the end of November and even that is going to be tainted with sad FAREWELLS to some of my closest friends.

However it's not all doom and gloom . There are little moments of joy and relief everyday. You just need to know where to look for them. Last night is an example;
Tash made Devilled Sausages for dinner. For reasons that I won't bore you with right now, I chose not to eat the sausages and went instead with a ham and cheese sandwich. My seemingly innocuous dining decision turned out to be quite fortuitous as everyone who partook in the aptly named Devilled Sausages is in the throes of very big issues with their digestive systems and the bathroom this morning. Now if that's not a reason to be thankful, I don't know what is.
