Brief Bits

Well, onward and upward for me and mine!....The living arrangements with Mel and Mikey - not entirely unexpectedly - didn't quite work out. However, we are all still firm friends and Paul , Kodak and I are to move on to greener pastures by the end of July.
We have acquired a new family member - we are going to keep one of Sassy's puppies. A rambuctious and plucky little boy dog we have named Asahi CLAW! He is reminiscent for me of one of my favourite characters in childhood, the Poky Little Puppy. He certainly is not short on attitude or charm , so I envision a long and wonderful life together. I am not too sure if Kodak agrees though.

Househunting , as I have previously noted on this very blog , is a pain in the posterior. We have some pretty rigid specifications on what we require in our new home - not to mention particular Real Estate Agents I refuse to deal with (they are a frikking cartel in this town , I tell you!) So once we apply all of our requirements to the list of available properties, the list thins considerably. However, I am nothing if not persistent so I am sure the right one will come along...at the right price...in the right area... hmmmm...

In other news, my niece is still the cutest child in Australia. I have been spending alot of time with her lately as both of her parents have been pretty busy - Brett with baseball and work commitments and Kalinda with study (exam period here at the uni at the moment, but that's another story...) She is constantly adding to her vocabulary, so now she doesn't call absolutely everything on the planet da da and kissing is currently her favourite pastime, leaving one with a pretty healthy self esteem boost after spending time with her.

So the good news, for anyone who still visits this blog on occasion, is that when we move into our new, and hopefully somewhat permanent home, we will be getting BROADBAND! Hurrah! So as a result, my lazy ass will have alot more inclination to post alot more regularly.
For you mob that have the time and want to check on a blog who that is a bit more regular in the updating department, check out Simon's or Tomek's blogs. Simon is another good old Darwin boy (whom most of you should know) who has moved to Vietnam for a year and is documenting it as it happens. Pretty entertaining stuff. Tomek just returned from a seemingly life changing trip to Thailand and is slowly recounting all of his adventures. Fun for all the family !

..the happy couple...

It has come and gone! The event we have been planning for nearly two years and looking forward to for almost as long - has finally happened!
It was altogether an amazing and touching experience. I had my first weep at 9.30 that morning ( I was in the chemist buying Berocca and it hit me that my friends were getting married today) and the crying pretty much continued all day. Kym's mum Anja was the worst - all she had to do was look at her daughters getting their hair and make up prepared and she was off on another crying jag. (The Anusol came in pretty handy I can tell you)

Everything went off without a hitch. Kym looked like an absolute princess - Brett was the dashing and handsome Price Charming. They are so obviously and all consuming in love with each other - it was an honour and a privelige to share that with them.
....the gallons of champagne wasn't half bad either.

I will now be harrassing all of my friends to get to it and tie the knot so that we can do it all again.

Pics of the happy couple to come....

Unaccustomed as I am to Public Speaking....

I am having a bit of trouble putting together a speech for the wedding. After harassing my friends Kym and Brett since the announcement of their engagement nearly TWO years ago - I am now somewhat obliged to put my money where my mouth is.
Usually I have no trouble rambling on about love and friendship and how awesome everyone is and how fabulous life and friendships are...especially after a couple of bevvies. However this time my natural loquacity has seemed to fail me..
I may be putting too much pressure on myself - overestimating the inportance of my little speech. There is also the difficulty of cramming the significance of 15 years of friendship into a 3 minute touching and lighthearted toast...
I dunno... any suggestions gratefully accepted - just leave them for me the comments section. I have no problem with plagiarism in times of need.
