Brief Bits
Well, onward and upward for me and mine!....The living arrangements with Mel and Mikey - not entirely unexpectedly - didn't quite work out. However, we are all still firm friends and Paul , Kodak and I are to move on to greener pastures by the end of July.
We have acquired a new family member - we are going to keep one of Sassy's puppies. A rambuctious and plucky little boy dog we have named Asahi CLAW! He is reminiscent for me of one of my favourite characters in childhood, the Poky Little Puppy. He certainly is not short on attitude or charm , so I envision a long and wonderful life together. I am not too sure if Kodak agrees though.
Househunting , as I have previously noted on this very blog , is a pain in the posterior. We have some pretty rigid specifications on what we require in our new home - not to mention particular Real Estate Agents I refuse to deal with (they are a frikking cartel in this town , I tell you!) So once we apply all of our requirements to the list of available properties, the list thins considerably. However, I am nothing if not persistent so I am sure the right one will come along...at the right price...in the right area... hmmmm...
In other news, my niece is still the cutest child in Australia. I have been spending alot of time with her lately as both of her parents have been pretty busy - Brett with baseball and work commitments and Kalinda with study (exam period here at the uni at the moment, but that's another story...) She is constantly adding to her vocabulary, so now she doesn't call absolutely everything on the planet da da and kissing is currently her favourite pastime, leaving one with a pretty healthy self esteem boost after spending time with her.
So the good news, for anyone who still visits this blog on occasion, is that when we move into our new, and hopefully somewhat permanent home, we will be getting BROADBAND! Hurrah! So as a result, my lazy ass will have alot more inclination to post alot more regularly.
For you mob that have the time and want to check on a blog who that is a bit more regular in the updating department, check out Simon's or Tomek's blogs. Simon is another good old Darwin boy (whom most of you should know) who has moved to Vietnam for a year and is documenting it as it happens. Pretty entertaining stuff. Tomek just returned from a seemingly life changing trip to Thailand and is slowly recounting all of his adventures. Fun for all the family !

Whitings are prized for their sweet, delicate flavour. They are versatile fishes that can be prepared in a number of ways including steaming, baking, barbecuing and grilling, with frying the most common. Careful handling is required because of their soft and delicate texture.
Fried whiting fillets are fantastic served with chips. Smaller whiting are delicious deep fried whole.
Steamed whiting fillets with the rib bones carefully removed have a well-earned reputation as an ideal food for invalids and children because they contain very little oil and are easily digested. Butterfly fillets are also popular as there are few bones.
With the exception of trumpeter whiting, which has soft flesh, all whiting species can be used for sashimi.
Complementary flavourings for whiting are the herbs dill, basil, chives, parsley and tarragon. When whiting is grilled or barbecued, a salad of grapefruit, orange, lime and lemon, with a citrus and olive oil dressing, will complement the flavour wonderfully. Other suitable sauces and condiments are lemon and herbed butters or buerre blanc. Crusts of cumin, coriander and ground turmeric are also tasty.
The delicate flavour of these species calls for subtle wines, with a touch of citrus—such as South Australian Rieslings—or a touch of spicy fruit, such as blends from Western Australia including Traminer, Riesling, Semillon & Chenin Blanc.
