Thanks Jesus!

Hurrah! It's Easter, and as the late great Big Kev would say - I'm excited!

Being the heathen that I am , Easter means not much more to me than an extra long weekend and plenty of chocolate. What more could a girl need when exploiting Christian holidays!

The weekend is shaping up to be pretty spectacular. There is the big Housewarming extravaganza tomorrow. Mikey has accumulated enough booze to sink a rather large ship. Tash is off today on the seafood buying trip - down to the newly opened Darwin Fish Markets to snap up kilos and kilos of prawns, oysters and sqid. Paul is all amped up for barbie duty and I have a new summer frock.

I am guessing Saturday will be our day of rest - and a rather large clean-up duty. Sunday is brunch around at Fergal and Tash's place (fellow Jingili dwellers) and we are hoping to follow that with a swim and afternoon beers at Mr Happe's current abode.

In between all of that , there will be a fair amount of laying around, reading the three new books I have yet to get started on, and generally just keeping it real.

What are you mob up to? Let me know in the comments section. Whatever you do, make sure you enjoy it...whether it be overconsumption of alcohol and cocoa flavoured confectionary (like some..) - or celebrating the dude who died for our sins.

See you afterward - with photos.

This and That

Got a few things to update you with fair reader , as it has been awhile hasn't it!

The non smoking thing lasted precisely 25 hours. I was over at my brother's house babysitting the INEXHAUSTABLE though fabulous Matilda and it just happened! It was a sub conscious action when I had a quick sip of wine in between high speed baby chases. The old "sip and the light up" trick - I didn't even see it coming!
So obviously I need to be in a cigarette desert before I can even contemplate such silly quit impulses again.

In other news, Paul's gorgeous sister Tash has returned and is rightly back in the bosom of her family. After an extended period out in the wilds of Queensland, she finally gave those Sunshine Staters the arse and drove her fab glam Subaru RX back to our fair town. - for which we are very grateful. Welcome Home Tash-marna!

Also rocking my world at the moment , I now present in no particular order;

"Things That are Rocking My World at the Moment"
Mum and Dad left for Sydney to purchase the Motor Home they have been dreaming of forever, to enable them to start their new lives as (mostly) grey nomads.
I finally booked and paid for the air tickets that wil take my bro and I on a sibling sojourn to the desolate lands of Kalgoorlie to visit our sister. This trip also brings us to Perth to visit my awesome , too cool for school girlfriend Jacqueline AND we get to finally meet our brother from another mother! More (possibly) on that later.

Mikey (our current landlord and friend) has a partner Mel and she has been living in Japan the last few months. We miss her alot, however most fortunately, she returns on the 29th of this month to re-join our happy little house. (also an excellent excuse for another dinner party!)
Speaking of parties , we are having one. A Housewarming/Easter Bash. Any of you Darwinites that may be free on Good Friday, head on over any time after midday. Paul is the man on the BBQ ( He volunteered for this role simply so that he has the opportunity to say to people all day "would you like a little meaty sausage?" small things hey...) and there will be fun, frivolity and possibly a little sporting activity. Depends on the strength of the punch I guess.
I am heading to the city on Friday for a bit of rocking out - I haven't done this since about November last year. I am really looking forward to it. Also - I am going to try one of those Jager Bombs that all the kids are raving about these days.
It has been raining soooo much that my entire bedroom is coated in a film of mould, the Katherine River will possibly flood again and the frogs won't freaking SHUT THE HELL UP - but on the flipside it is so cool (temperature cool not Fonzarelli cool) that it even feels a bit like winter in the normal parts of the country. The novelty of this is surprisingly not wearing off too quickly and I could handle another couple of weeks of it. Really.

....and finally, my niece Matilda said BOO to me yesterday Like "Peek a boo" boo and it was a real, intentioned word . It was very darned thrilling.
I always find it very difficult to find a way to end these posts in an appropriate manner. Something that is both witty and ties all that was written before, together. This is very difficult and I am very lazy, so today this post just ends.

I have just decided that I am going to quit smoking. As of right now. Today . Effective immediately.
I will let you know tomorrow how my first 24 hours have gone.
Wish me luck.
